An update on my garden

I thought I'd update you on the state of my garden...

I wish I could tell you that these beautiful plants are mine...

...but unfortunately they belong to my housemate. I think he has the golden touch, whereas my plants currently look like this:

There are some encouraging leaves sprouting, but to be honest I'm not entirely convinced that they're not just weeds. They seem to be growing everywhere apart from in the pots where I actually planted them.

This is the largest growth so far, and it appears to be a dandelion leaf. Crap. There are a few chives there too (in the top right of the pot... look closely, they're there, I promise), but they don't seem to have done much growing in the last few days. They've stuck their little heads out to get my hopes up, and then they've just stood there taunting me.

My parsley looks okay, but considering there were about three times as many sprouts a fortnight ago that have subsequently died, I don't hold out much hope.

Surely I'm better at looking after plants that have already grown though, right? The type you buy from the shop ready grown, and just have to water every day or two...

Ummm.

If I ever have children, I will seriously fear for their safety in my care. I am apparently not the nurturing type.

At least we know I can grow a dandelion though.

  1. Oh no! That's what my garden looked like 2 summers ago! I think there is a definite learning curve to gardening - don't give up (2 summers later I have tomato plants with actual flowers on the - squeee!!!) Oh and I've totally given up starting from seeds - I buy the plants now & leave the plant starting to the experts! Good luck with the rest of the season!

  2. Thank you for the morning laughter! This is so cute. Don't worry. You will get the hang of it. Trust me, my garden looked worse off when I first started. Thank goodness for my husband's green thumb. I watched and learned from him as you should do with your housemate. We all learn from one another. Good Luck!
